Well, the Weld show didn’t materialize as i’d imaged it would. Bet he continues the show today with a white wash of the card or something, knowing my luck.
Forget Galway today, onto Goodwood we go!
Dawn Approach 15:05 Goodwood 11/10 Bet365
What is there left to say about this horse, he completely flopped in the Epsom Derby for whatever reason (didn’t settle atall, for whatever reason he wasn’t enjoying himself, although many doubted he’d get the distance even if he was enjoying himself). He came back from such a disappointing run to win the St Jame’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot beating Toronado, who re-opposes today. This really is a two horse race with the market favoring Dawn Approach, who’s got the better of Toronado the last twice. This horse would be be unbeaten had it not run in the Derby, and i’d imagine his price would be a hell of alot shorter than the 11/10 on offer right now. A forecast (or even RFC) with Toronado should boost winnings nicely.
Excess Knowledge 14:30 Goodwood 15/8 Bet365
Jon Gosden is looking to win this race back to back (after Noble Mission won last year) with Excess Knowledge, a smart horse that found a strong listed event at Sandown last time too hot to handle (won by the french raider Mandour, Afsare 2nd, with Excess Knowledge a neck back in 3rd. That form alone gives this horse a MASSIVE chance of winning. The 2nd favourite Cap O Rushes did well to cling onto 4th after weakening in the final furlong in the Irish Derby a few weeks ago, but was no match for the eventual first 3 in the end. That is probably the best piece of form Cap O Rushes has, which, don’t get me wrong, is decent, but if the less exposed Excess Knowledge progresses as expected, he could have this in the bag quite easily.
