Sunday 1st March Sha Tin Tips

HONG KONG RACING SUNDAY 1 MARCH 2015

SHA TIN

Hong Kong Wrap Up

The racing just keeps getting better at Sha Tin and once again today we have an outstanding group one race in the CitiBank Gold Cup. Small field but packed full of talent. Looks to be a very exciting race with the likes of Designs On Rome and Military Attack in the field. It does look to be a sensational race with those runners involved. To add to that we have Blazing Speed and California Memory just breathing down their necks along with Harbour Master who certainly has shown potential. Yet another great days racing in Hong Kong and we certainly found some winners there last week. On top selections and value selections as well as six exactas. Get amongst it and enjoy the day.

Track and Conditions: Turf B+2 Course with the exception of Races 2-5  which will be on the All Weather Dirt Track.

Expected Weather:  Mainly cloudy with one or two rain patches and a top temperature of 20 degrees. Wind will be from the northeast up to 30 Km/h and on occasions up to 40 Km/h. This will create a direct head wind down the straight which will aid on paced runners.

Best Bet: Race 3 No 7 Pop-Bear

Best Value: Race 8 No 1 Celestial Smile

Exotic Races: Race No’s 7-8-9-10

Quaddie: – Race 7: 1-2 Race 8: 9-1-13-7-5 Race 9: 4-1 Race 10: 2-11-9-1-6

Race 1: — Time: 5.00am GMT—Distance: 2000m—Class 5

Top Pick: No 1 Enjoy The Game

Value Selection: No 10 Win Chance

Exotic Inclusions: No 12 Glamorous Ryder and No 4 Super Strike

Race Overiew

Not the sort of race you want to get too involved in first up today. Looks a bit of a minefield over this distance at this class. But there may be a bit of value just the same if keeping your stakes small. Enjoy The Game went well recently when going up to class four and certainly enjoyed the weight drop. Back to top weight today with the class rise but his previous form was very good at this class so if he can carry the weight he has to be a bit of a chance here.  Win Chance has never looked like making it at lesser distances and performed as such. However after stepping up in distance has shown a fair bit of improvement. Both his last starts all be it have been at Happy Valley and he did close off exceptionally well last start over the 2200m. Looks suited today over the 2000m Has a senior hoop in Brett Prebble in the saddle and you would have to expect he should be value as well.

Race 2: — Time: 5.30am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 4 – AWT

Top Pick: No 4 Kingston Jumbo

Value Selection: No 10 Horse Supremo

Exotic Inclusions: No 9 Modern Fortune – No 7 Lovely Naughty – Hello Kimberly

Race Overview

Kingston Jumbo Is an Australian breed four year old who appears to have matured very well this season. Improved a fair bit since going to the All Weather Track and has won both his last two starts at this class on that surface. Up a bit in the weights as a result of that but still looks ok and has to be another strong chance with Joao Moreira retaining the ride today. Horse Supremo has mixed his form this season at Happy Valley and the AWT at Sha Tin and looks to prefer this surface going on his last two starts. They are both tight tracks and the draws are important. Just gets in with gate eight today and is well weighted. Only has to repeat his last two starts to be a good chance once again today.  Hello Kimberley normally when he drops back in class he performs very well but had a few issues last start and coped a few knocks early so may pay to forgive that effort. Not drawn well in gate 10 but does get a 2 Lb claim here and this is certainly not a strong class four and may very well pay to follow here. Goes in as my BOLTER of the day.

Race 3: — Time: 6.00am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 4 Bear Rapper

Value Selection: No 5 Thor The Greatest

Exotic Inclusions: No 1 Fun Tapestry and No 2 How Speedy

Bear Rapper has never been very far away in all his races since arriving in Hong Kong and closed off very well from a wide gate last start and was not very far away in the wash up at all. Comes up with a nice draw today in gate four and I expect this will certainly help. Interesting to see a bit of hoop swapping going on here with Joao Moreira off Thor The Greatest and onto Bear Rapper and Brett Prebble off Bear Rapper and onto Thor The Greatest as they both certainly have appeal here although. Thor The Greatest has drawn wide but he has been very consistent this season. He will most likely try to cross early and if he gets in with cover he certainly has to come under consideration as well.

Race 4: — Time: 6.30am GMT—Distance: 1200 —Class 4

Top Pick: No 13 Winner St Paul’s

Value Selection: No 4 Forever Accurate

Exotic Inclusions: No 3 Telecom Boss and No 1 Kokoda

Race Overview

Very open affair here and it does look like it will be each way the field. Winner St Paul’s just the three starts in Hong Kong and is improving with racing. Went to the line well last start and was only 1 1/4 lengths of the winner on that occasion. Comes up with a nice draw in gate 2 and always has a good hoop in the saddle and nothing has changed today with the master of the weave in Brett Prebble taking the over. Forever Accurate is much better than last run would suggest as he lost a plate in the running on that occasion and it did appear to affect his chances. Previous runs leading into that start were very good and is expected to do much better today. each way chance here. Telecom Boss Dropped back to this class last start and although he did not get into a place he did get much closer in the wash up only 1 3/4 lengths from the winner. That was his first go with the extra weight with the class drop and would not have to improve very much to be a good chance here.

Race 5: — Time: 7.00am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 1 – AWT

Top Pick: No 9 Master Kochanwong

Value Selection: No 4 Access Years

Exotic Inclusions: No 8 Super Jockey and No 7 Lord Sinclair / No 1 Sterling City

Race Overview

Interesting Class 1 race here with some good runners engaged. But when looking at the AWT form it is hard to go past  Master Kochanwong who does look the best weighted runner in this race as he handled the class rise last start and recorded a nice win with 122Lbs on his back. Drops to 119 Lbs today and comes up with a great draw in gate 2. Retains Douglas Whyte in the saddle and certainly has to come under consideration here. Access Years as a few of these are untried over this surface. Make no bones about it this is a very classy race but he has been a very consistent type since arriving in Hong Kong and certainly deserves to be in this company. Drops 7 Lbs on his last start 2nd at this class and should be very competitive here. I currently at each way odds which does make him value here.

Race 6: — Time: 7.30am GMT—Distance: 1400m —Class 3

Top Pick: No 12 Bossie

Value Selection: No 5 Da Vinci

Exotic Inclusions: No 4 Cheeky Too and No 1 Noble Alpha

Race Overview

Bossie Only the four starts in Hong Kong and does look like a nice type. Went up to this class last start and ran a very nice 2nd. Looks extremely well weighted and should get a very nice trail in the running from gate 2 and retains Joao Moreira in the saddle. Should go close here. Da Vinci does look like a very nice type and will certainly get away with a win or two at this class before too much longer. Well beaten last start but looking at the margins he was not very far away at all , only 1 1/2 lengths in the wash up and does look a bit of a hope today as he goes around with the same weight as last start.

Race 7: — Time: 8.00am GMT—Distance: 2000m—Class- Group One

Top Pick: No 1 Designs On Rome

Value Selection: No 2 Military Attack

Exotic Inclusions: No 3 Blazing Speed and No 4 California Memory

Race Overview

At set weights this should be a great race. Let’s put it under the microscope 🙂  Well looking at Designs On Rome and Military Attack there is never much between them and only the Jockey has managed to time their runs to perfection. Designs On Rome has managed to come out in front on most occasions and did so the last time these two met over this distance all be it by a short head. On that occasion it was at set weights so if their form is up to par it is a bit of a toss up today. Military Attack has a huge heart and will never stop trying so if any hiccups he will certainly take advantage of it. On the other side of the coin we also must look at California Memory. He has been a bit out of sorts since his early career wins at very good class races.. What I did notice was the way he finished off his last start. He did on that occasion have a very light weight but gets into this race today with a nice weight as well. He finished 7th at his last start which was won by Designs On Rome over the 1800m but what you can read into it is that he was only 1 1/2 lengths from the winner on that occasion and was closing off very well. Gives you the impression he has been set for this and the extra distance will be right up his ally. Should certainly be a bit of value here. Blazing Speed and Harbour Master can also figure on recent form. Interesting Race just the same.

Race 8: — Time: 8.35am GMT—Distance: 1600m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 9 Colossus

Value Selection: No 1 Celestial Smile

Exotic Inclusions: No 13 So Café and No 7 Renaissance / No 5 Jun Huo

Race Overview

Colossus has only had the one start in Hong Kong but it was for a very nice third over the 1400m. Closed off very well on that occasion indicating that the extra distance up to the Sha Tin mile may very well be his go. Does look like Tommy Berry’s better chances today. Celestial Smile is far too consistent to leave out here even with top weight. Only needs a sniff over the concluding stages and will be hard to hold out at this class.

Race 9: — Time: 9.10am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class – 3

Top Pick: No 4 Why Why

Value Selection: No 1 Eroico

Exotic Inclusions: No Mutimax and No 14 Blizzard / No 7 Happy Meteor

Race Overview

Why Why has been in sensational form of late and does appeal as another very good chance once again today. Won at his first go at this class last start and still looks well treated at the weights today. Drawn well and retains his regular hoop. May very well pay to follow here. Eroico will be the one they will be wanting to be on here with Joao Moreira retaining the ride. Went a bit a miss over the concluding stages last start but can improve on that effort. May have been the weight but will certainly see today if that was the case. However not a strong class three and if on song can get away with this.

Race 10: — Time: 9.45pm GMT—Distance: 1800m—Class 2

Top Pick: No 2 Packing Llaregyb

Value Selection: No 11 Contentment

Exotic Inclusions: No 9 Obliterator and No 1 Flame Hero / No 6 Mr Gnocchi

Very nice class two here. I do like Packing Llaregyb in a race of this type. Certainly showed that he is very well up to Group racing with his effort last start in finishing a very close up 2nd over this distance at G3. He had on that occasion a very light weight and closed off extremely well. Gets a big weight rise today but on the same token this is a good class drop as well. I must say some of the lower weighted runners certainly have very good chances as well. Great Race. Without doubt Contentment does look extremely well weighted today with just 114Lbs on his back. Drawn well and has Joeo Moreira in the saddle and has to be respected at the weights as well as he was only 3 Lengths away last start at HKG1.

HONG KONG RACING SATURDAY 21 February

SHA TIN

Hong Kong Wrap Up

Awesome Group racing last Sunday and what a finish in the G1 sprint when Gold-Fun got up in a very close go from Aerovelocity and Lucky Nine with Peniaphobia finishing a nice 4th. If you followed the selections we hit a very nice 1st 4 and depending which bookie you are with it paid over $5000.00. Nice. J. Keep tuned for more group racing as it is just around the corner in Hong Kong where we have sensational racing every week and it is punter friendly so just stick with the form guide and enjoy. The last four races do look good today if having a go and enjoy the excitement of Hong Kong racing.

Track and Conditions: Turf A+3 Course which will be rated as Good.

Expected Weather: Cloudy throughout the day with a few rain patches and mist. Top temperature of 20 Degrees. The wind will be from the east to south east up to 40 Km/h early but abating slightly to around the 30 Km/h mark as the day progresses. This may very well for the first time this season assist closers with a bit of a tail wind down the straight. But being partly a cross wind the conditions should make for a fairly good playing ground.

Best Bet: Race 8 No 2 Divine Calling

Best Value: Race 7 No 10 Ensuring

Exotic Races: Race No’s 7-8-9-10-11

Quaddie:-

Race 8: 2-4-5-3 Race 9: 1-5-10-3-9 Race 10: 2-14 Race 11: 12-13-14-1

Race 1: — Time: 4.30am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 5 Chin Chun

Value Selection: No 3 Peace Combination

Exotic Inclusions: No 2 Unique Joyful and No 1 Wild Boy / No 8 Naughty Baby

Race Overview

Chin Chun goes around for the first time today and all three trials leading into this have been very good. Was scratched last October when was expected to begin his Hong Kong racing and was found to have a blood abnormality. Is very well breed and is expected to go beyond this class before too long. Can make a decent impact on debut.  Peace Combination just the two starts in Hong Kong and certainly showed improvement last start when he was just nosed out over the 1000m at Sha Tin . Up a touch in the weights but does look like he will be well suited over the extra ground today even from gate ten. Unique Joyful has not had the best of luck recently but does get a good chance today after coming up with another very nice draw in gate three. Can be a bit of a handful early on in his races but if he gets away ok does look to be value here as well.

Race 2: — Time: 5.00am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 5

Top Pick: No 2 Kids And Win

Selection: No 1 Enchanting Diamond

Exotic Inclusions: No 10 Goldweiver and No 7 King Tai Sing

Race Overview

Kids And Win looks to have appreciated the drop back in class recently and came out with a nice win last start and as a result gets a nice rev up in the weights but he does get a 2 Lb claim as well and he does his retain his last start winning hoop. Ordinary Class Five though. Enchanting Diamond has done all his racing in Hong Kong at class four and dropped back to class five last start for the first time and in doing so carried top weight of 133lbs. Was only beaten by one length on that occasion and certainly showed improvement. Gets in with the same weight today but will need a bit of luck from a wide gate. However there should be enough pace to give him that chance today.

Race 3: — Time: 5.30am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 4

Race 4: — Time: 6.00am GMT—Distance: 1600 —Class 4

Top Pick: No 11 Unicorn

Value Selection: No 2 D’Or Wongchoy

Exotic Inclusions: No 4 Heartwood and No 1 Fighting Boy / No 9 Grand Champion

Race Overview

Not a good form race here and I would be treading lightly in this one. Unicorn has only had the four starts in Hong Hong Kong and all have been over lesser distances than today. Gives the impression that he will certainly be well suited over the Sha Tin mile and although drawn wide he has Zac Purton in the saddle. If he steps up in distance as expected will go close here. D’Or  Wongchoy  Is dropping back to this class today for only the second time since arriving in Hong Kong. The last time he did so he won over this distance with a very similar weight. Will need a bit of luck in the running but should be able to get cover and if so is expected to be closing off well here as Heartwood should ensure a decent pace up front and has not been lucky enough to come up with a decent draw until today as he does come up with gate five here which will only suit his running style. Still looks weighted ok as he does get a nice seven Lb weight drop with his allowance which will see him trot around with 121Lbs on his back today. There is a possibility that he could very well sneak away with this if the pace up from is not too solid.

Race 5: — Time: 6.35am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 4 Presidentparamount

Value Selection: No 12 Unique Happiest

Exotic Inclusions: No 6 Mofit and No 10 Ah Bo

Race Overview

Presidentparamount Only the four starts in Hong Kong and broke through for a nice win last start after stepping up to this distance for the first time. Closed off well on that occasion and retains Zac Purton in the saddle. Should get a nice trail in the running and is expected to go well once again today even with a bit of a weight rise. Unique Happiest did look to have a bit of a rough run last start and could have finished much closer but by the same token it was a very good run behind our top selection today. Would not have to find too much more to give this a decent shake all be it from gate twelve. Retains the master of the weive in Brett Prebble in the saddle as well.  Mofit has only had the four starts in Hong Kong and has certainly looked and performed much better when he went up to this distance. Drawn wide but has run very well from that gate previously and does retain his last start hoop.

Race 6: — Time: 7.05am GMT—Distance: 1200m —Class 3

Top Pick: No 10 Righteous

Value Selection: No 4 King Of Mangolia

Exotic Inclusions: No 9 Shining Champion and No 1 Our Folks

Race Overview

Righteous Just the two starts in Hong Kong and he has won both which were over this distance at Sha Tin. Goes up to Class three today and as a result gets a very nice weight drop of 13 Lbs. Drawn well in gate four and retains Zac Purton in the saddle. Certainly has appeal as a winning chance here. King Of Mongolia has only had the one start in Hong Kong and that was over this distance at this class. Ran a fairly good on paced race on that occasion and should be further improved by that outing and he does come up with a very nice draw today in gate 2.

Race 7: — Time: 7.35am GMT—Distance: 2000m—Class- Three

Top Pick: No 2 Lucky Omens

Value Selection: No 10 Ensuring

Exotic Inclusions: No 4 Ambitious Champion and No 6 Industrialist Way / No 13 Rock The Tree

Race Overview

Lucky Omens has always performed so much better over this distance even though it is just the extra 200m on what he has run over when he dropped back in distance. Has won on two occasions over this distance and been placed on other occasions. However he has been hit with a decent weight rise as a result of those runs and does look weighted at his best today. Should be value on that form. Ensuring just the four starts in Hong Kong and has been working up in distance all the time. Worked home very well over the 1800m last start indicating that he may very well be ready for the extra ground over the 2000m today. Looks well weighted and is still  currently at each way odds which is appealing in a very open race. Rock The Tree does look like a bit of an outside chance here and can get into the finish with a bit of luck. Recently went back up to Class three after a couple of very nice performances at Class four all be it one was at Happy Valley. Should get a reasonable trail in the running and will trot around with 115Lbs on his back after the claim. May very well be nice value here and goes in as my BOLTER of the day.

Race 8: — Time: 8.05am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 1

Top Pick: No 2 Divine Calling

Value Selection: No 4 Kabayan

Exotic Inclusions: No 5 Gurus Dream and No 3 Super Lifeline

Race Overview

Divine Calling does look like a very nice type and won first up in Hong Kong over this distance. Then put in a very nice effort over the mile at class 1 and repeated that form with another good performance at HKG1 over the same distance. Gets a bit of a touch up in the weights but by the same token he should handle it at this class. Does look a good chance in  a fairly competitive race. Kabayan has only had three starts at this class so far and if you look at the results and the weights he has been carrying it does appear that he should go very close today. He did go close last start over this distance at this class and only has two Lbs extra today which should see him perform well in a small field.

Race 9: — Time: 8.40am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class – 2

Top Pick: No 1 Teofilo Calva

Value Selection: No 5 I’m In Charge

Exotic Inclusions: No 10 Golden Deer and No 3 Bear Hero / No 9 Supreme Falcon

Race Overview

Another nice sprint race here. Teofilo Calva has only had the three starts in Hong Kong but all have been very good and does look a very good chance here even from a wide draw in gate eleven. Went close last start from a similar draw with the same weight  and retains Joeo Moreira in the saddle and has to be a very good chance today. I’m In Charge does look placed well here and has came up with a decent draw as well. Is back in class with a weight that still suites as well and has the master of the weive in Brett Prebble in the saddle. Expected to be over’s today and may very well be a bit of value here.

Race 10: — Time: 9.15pm GMT—Distance: 1600m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 2 Travel First

Value Selection: No 14 Soul Achiever

Exotic Inclusions: No 10 Good Good View and No 8 Brilliant Dream

                                                         Race Overview

Travel First Has only had the three runs in Hong Kong and all have been at this class and all have been good and been right on the job and never very far away. Has won over a similar distance in the UK prior to arrival in Hong Kong and does not have to improve too much to give this a real shake. Comes up with a nice draw in gate two and will most likely go to the front here. If he gets a soft run he will certainly be the one to run down despite being well weighted. Soul Achiever just the four starts in Hong Kong and does look to have certain potential as he has won two of those starts this season and one was over this distance all be it at class four. But he did go very close last start at this class after closing off from a long way back. Will most likely do the same today from gate ten but also drops an extra 2 Lbs and retains Joao Moreira in the saddle as well. Does look to have the ability to run very well today with this weight.

Race 11: — Time: 9.50pm GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 12 Super Talent

Value Selection: No 13 Dashing Fellow

Exotic Inclusions: No 14 Up And Coming and No 1 Big Four

                                                         Race Overview

Super Talent has produced some nice performances in Hong Kong since arriving here all be it at lesser class races but did however go up to this class last start and closed off extremely well .Drawn well today in gate 6 and has Douglas Whyte back in the saddle as well. Does look well weighted here and you would expect he will be in the finish at some point here. Dashing Fellow goes up to class three today after performing very consistent at class four and deserves a chance here. As a result he does drop 12 Lbs after his last start win which was over this distance. Joao Moreira has stuck with him which is a good sign and you would expect another very good performance today.

Sha Tin Racing Sunday 15th February Tips

SHA TIN

Hong Kong Wrap Up

Yet another exciting days racing in Hong Kong with not one but two Group One races today. The first over the sprint distance of 1200m in Race Seven and it does look to be a ripper of a race with the new and upper coming stars against the ones that do have the runs on the board. Peniaphobia just got up for us last start all be it dropping back to the 1000m from a draw which did not really suit. Back to a much more suitable distance today and will be getting home hard here. Does however look to have a fair few challengers against him today including Aerovelocity.

Gold – Fun is the interesting runner who is going over the sprint distance for the first time today but may very well be suited but will certainly know more after today’s race. Exceptional race with the likes of Smart Volatility and Lucky Nine in the field. It certainly looks like a very special sprint race.

Then we move on to the Hong Kong Classic Cup in race Nine which also looks to be a very special Group Race with a heap of very talented runners involved. Beauty Only is established and looks a very good chance and we also have the new and upper coming runners which include Redkirk Warrior-Giant Treasure and Contentment which do make it to be a very exciting race.

It does look like a great meet to get involved in and certainly have some fun with very good fields and the potential for nice exotics. Enjoy the day and enjoy what Sha Tin has to offer which is always a great day’s racing.

Track and Conditions: Turf – A- Course with the exception of races 3-5-8 which will be on the All Weather Dirt Track. Track will be rated Good to Firm on the turf and Fast on the AWT.

Expected Weather: Mainly cloudy with a top temperature of 17 degrees. Wind will be from the east to northeast gusting up to 30 to 40 Km/h so it will create a head wind down the straight which will favour on paced runners however closers will get their chance as well if making ground down the back straight.

Best Bet: Race 5 No 3 Got Fly

Best Value: Race 10 No 2 Luger

Exotic Races: Race No’s 5-6-7-8-9

Quaddie:-

Race 7: 5-1-2-9-4 Race 8: 4-2-7 Race 9: 1-9-2-10 Race 10: 4-2-12-7

Race 1: — Time: 5.00am GMT—Distance: 1600m—Class 5

Top Pick: No 4 Follow The Wind

Value Selection: No 5 Colourful Profit

Exotic Inclusions: No 2 Jun Ju and No 3 Cool Pal

Race Overview

Very ordinary class five to begin the day here. Follow The Wind looks to have slightly better form than most and has not been too far away since dropping back to this class this season. Bit of an in between runner who has moved between lower class races with good results previously. May very well be a bit of a chance here once again as he does retain Douglas Whyte in the saddle. Colourful Profit may be a bit of an outside chance here if we get the right odds. His last two runs have not been good but having said that one was on the AWT and the other at Happy Valley . At his first run after dropping back to this class three starts back he ran very well at Sha Tin with Joao Moreira in the saddle. He has Joao back today and comes up with the gun draw in gate 1 and should be given every chance.

Race 2: — Time: 5.30am GMT—Distance: 1800m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 5 Sergeant Titanium

Selection: No 2 Percy Jackson

Exotic Inclusions: No 3 Wealthy Fortune and No 1 Ambassadorship

Another race where we have to go over all runners as the form is a bit all over the place but let’s have a look at Sergeant Titanium who finally bounced into form last start with a nice on paced effort over the 1600m last start. Will most likely be ridden on the pace once again from a nice draw in gate 6 and Joao Moreira stays with him as well. May certainly pay to follow here.Percy Jackson is dropped back to this class for the first time last start and it did appear to make a decent impact. On that occasion he ran a very nice closing race from a mid field position so it does appear that he will handle the extra weight.  May be a bit wider today but may play into his hands if there is sufficient pace during the running. Wealthy Fortune has been bouncing up and down between this class and class three recently and may be worth a bit of an each way bet here as he ran well last start at this class over the 1600m. Up a touch in distance today and maybe a bit of value.

Race Overview

Race 3: — Time: 6.00am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 2 Reborn To Win

Value Selection: No G One Bo Bo

Exotic Inclusions: No 4 Born To Win and No 10 Penny Lane / No 6 Gold Dragon

Reborn To Win was going along ok at class 3 this season without setting the world on fire but has dropped enough in the ratings to get back to class 4 today. Looks a bit of a chance here even with top weight as he should be well placed near the rails during the running. Should improve on latest run and put in a good sight. G-One Bo Bo was expected to improve with the step up in distance last start but did not get much room in the running and pulled up lame which may have been as a result of that running. Only had the three runs in Hong Kong and I am sure Joao would not be sticking with him today id he did not show potential.

Race 4: — Time: 6.30am GMT—Distance: 1650m – AWT—Class 5

Top Pick: No 5 Happy Moments

Value Selection: No 7 Good Fit

Exotic Inclusions: No 1 Expedite and No 2 Imperial Concorde

Race Overview

Happy Moments Has not done much since arriving in Hong Kong other than recently when he went over to the AWT and showed quick improvement with the exception of his second last start. Recorded a nice win last start on the dirt and may very well be worth the follow with Joao Moreira retaining the ride today. Good Fit recorded a nice win at this class last start at his first go on the AWT over the 1800m. Back to the AWT mile today. Is expected to be well positioned in the running here and still looks well weighted. If he has adapted to the AWT as it looks like he has is certainly worth consideration here.

Race 5: — Time: 7.00am GMT—Distance: 2000m—Class 2

Top Pick: No 3 Got Fly

Value Selection: No 2 Wayfoong Express

Exotic Inclusions: No 5 Ashkiyr and No 10 Tableaux

Race Overview

Got Fly has really got going all be it with just the three starts in Kong Kong and does look to have plenty of potential. Worked into the race well last start and recorded a nice win. Looks to be in the same position today and should have a very nice trial in the running after coming up with gate 5. Has won over this distance in France prior to arriving in Hong Kong and does look to have talent and suited over this distance today. Wayfoong Express goes around at class two for the first time today. Lightly raced this season as was found to be lame two starts back but did put in a very nice effort last start at HKG3 over the 1800m. Was closing well on that occasion and does not look to bad at the weights with 128Lbs and is certainly in this today.

Race 6: — Time: 7.30am GMT—Distance: 1650m – AWT—Class 3

Top Pick: No 5 Goldland Dancer

Value Selection: No 3 Horse Aplenty

Exotic Inclusions: No 8 Scimitar and No 10 Axiom

Race Overview

Goldland Dancer does prefer this surface and ran a very nice 4th last start over this distance on this surface. Did not get away well on that occasion and made up a lot of ground in the running even though he was wide on most occasions from a wide gate. Comes up with a much better draw today in gate four and if he jumps on terms he should be well placed in the running and is expected to be in the finish here. Horse Aplenty has shown that he is much better suited on this surface this season and the distance does look to suite. Fairly even on paced effort last start and should take a similar approach today after coming up with a nice draw in gate 5. Look for improvement here.

Race 7: — Time: 8.00am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class- Hong Kong Group One

Top Pick: No 5 Peniaphobia

Value Selection: No 1 Gold – Fun

Exotic Inclusions: No 2 Aerovelocity and No 9 Smart Volatility / No 4 Lucky Nine

Race Overview

Peniaphobia is certainly the new kid on the block and came hard to get up last start from an unsuitable gate over the 1000m. Looks even better suited over the 1200m and has came up with a nice draw in gate three. Will be powering home over the concluding stages. Gold – Fun has not been over this distance even prior to arrival in Hong Kong but what he does possess is good gate speed and good early speed. Has found things a bit out of place over the mile recently but that has also been at the hands of Able Friend but not just that as he has certainly found it hard to go with them lately and may very well be worth a go over this distance as it would appear that they have him ready to go here. Appeals as value. Aerovelocity Has certainly been firing lately and for a fair while now with the exception of his 2nd last start when he had excused after being bumped from pillar to post. Comes up with another great draw in gate 5 today and at set weights and Zac Purton as the pilot certainly appeals as another good chance today in a very good field.

Race 8: — Time: 8.35am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 4 Radiant Bunny

Value Selection: No 2 Charter Legend

Exotic Inclusions: No 7 Travel Renyi and No 1 Berlini / No 13 Ultimate Glory

Race Overview

Radiant Bunny had good form in Queensland before coming to Hong Kong and his last two runs here suggests that he will not be far away from a win at this class. Went to the line very solid last start over this distance and is only up 1Lb on that effort and gets Zac Puton in the saddle for the first time. You would expect he really should be in the finish here. Chater Legend Only the two runs in Hong Kong and did go really well last start over this distance. Carrys a similar weight today and should be fitter for recent racing. Would not have to improve too much to be an each way chance here.  Travel Renyi goes up in distance today but certainly gived the impression that he is looking for this trip as he has been closing very well over the 1200m. Comes up with a nice draw in gate three and has Joao Moreira in the saddle. Interesting to see that his last start hoop in Douglas Whyte in off him today and onto Berlini a bit of a chance even though he has drawn wide.

Race 9: — Time: 9.10pm GMT—Distance: 1800m—Class – Hong Kong Group One

Top Pick: No 1 Beauty Only

Value Selection: No 9 Redkirk Warrior

Exotic Inclusions: No 2 Giant Treasure and No 10 Contentment

Race Overview

At set weights over the mile Beauty Only gobbled them up last start. Has the same weight today but is going over the extra 200m in ground for the first time but the way he won last start may very well take to this distance as well. Drawn well and should get a nice trail in the running. Retains his usual hoop in Neil Callan and only has to be somewhere near his last start to give this a big shake. Redkirk Warrior Can stay and has won over the 2000m prior to arrival in Hong Kong and should get further as his career progresses. Very nice win over the Sha Tin mile last start. Sat handy and finished off very well. Drawn wide today but should be able to work into it with the extra 200m today. Retains Joao Moreira in the saddle and should go close here with natural progression.

Race 10: — Time: 9.45pm GMT—Distance: 1600m—Class 2

Top Pick: No 4 Appinati

Value Selection: No 2 Luger

Exotic Inclusions: No 12 High and Mighty and No 7 Romantic Touch and if going after the trifecta or a 1st 4 I would be adding No’3 What You Dream and No 5 Full Talent.

                                                         Race Overview

Appinati has only had the four starts in Hong Kong and already started at HKG1 last start and ran a very nice race finishing 4th in the wash up. Should be well placed in the running today and even drops 1 Lb in the weights which is a bit out of place as he is back to class two today after such a nice run last start. However this is a very good field and he will have to make his chances. Tommy Berry is back in town and has the mount today which is a very nice positive as well. Luger looked like he was going on to bigger and better things before this season where he has hit a couple of issues which can happen to high performance race horses. Was found to have an irregular heart beat 2 starts back and was found to have a temperature before running last start and as a result was scratched. Trialled well since and if ready to go which trials indicate he is does appear as a good chance here. Drawn well in gate three and if he gets a good trail as expected will certainly be in the frame here.

Sha Tin Racing Sunday 7th February Tips

HONG KONG RACING SUNDAY 7 February

SHA TIN

Hong Kong Wrap Up

Another great days racing coming up at Sha Tin today with the Group Three Centenary Vase Handicap over the 1800m. Certainly looks like a very exciting race even with the scratching of the top weight Military Attack. Designs On Rome now takes the place of favourite and has to be the one to beat on current form but he will be giving away a fair bit of weight to the rest of the field so today we will certainly see just how good he is. The last five races on the card today all look good and you can certainly expect some very competitive racing however Massive Move in race two does look extremely hard to hold out over the 1000m where they run down the grandstand side of the track which make for spectacular viewing and entertainment and he goes in as our best of the day. The best value is represented in Race 10 where No 1 Wonderful Moments is currently at each way odds. He has been racing in stronger company than he is today so if he carries the extra weight he but certainly appeals as a bit of value today.

Track and Conditions: Turf – C+3 Course with the exception of races 1-4-6 which will be on the All Weather Dirt Track. Track will be rated Good.

Expected Weather:  Mainly Cloudy and dry with sunny periods and a top temperature of 18 Degrees. Wind will be from the east to northeast gusting up to 30 Km/h which will create a head wind down the straight and assisting on paced runners but it should be a mainly fair playing ground just the same.

Best Bet: Race 2 No 4 Massive Move

Best Value: Race 10 No 1 Wonderful Moments

Exotic Races: Race No’s 6-7-8-9-10

Quaddie:-

Race 7: 5-2 Race 8: 2-3-6-8-11 Race 9: 1-5 Race 10: 13-1-10-2

Race 1: — Time: 5.00am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 5 – AWT

Top Pick: No 9 Always Wonderful

Value Selection: No 2 Sledge Hammer

Exotic Inclusions: No 3 Mighty Gains and No 1 Glorious Avenue

Race Overview

Always Wonderful Dropped back to this class late last season and switched to the AWT this season and did nothing at his first two go’s but turned it around last start when he ran a very good on paced third in a very similar class field. Would not have to improve too much on that effort to go close here. Has drawn well in gate four and will jump in a forward position today and should be in the finish at some point. Sledge Hammer last won over this distance on this surface and drops back to that class today. Drawn ok and does get the services on Joao Moreira in the saddle. May make the price a bit unders but has to go in as a good chance today.

Race 2: — Time: 5.30am GMT—Distance: 1000m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 4 Massive Move

Selection: No 13 Glory Horsie

Exotic Inclusions: No 9 Top Bonus and No 6 Timely Arrived / No 8 Peace Combination

Race Overview

Massive Move certainly looks suited over this course today having came up with a very nice draw in gate 12 and does get his chance here. Looks in a treat at the weights and should be hard to run down. Glory Horsie does look the main pace influence in this race and with his light weight you would expect he should lead. May run a cheeky race at decent odds.

Race 3: — Time: 6.00am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 10 Sparkling Sword

Value Selection: No 4 Secret Agent

Exotic Inclusions: No 11 Fire Starter and No 1 Hard Ball Get

Race Overview

Sparkling Sword still to win at this class but has gone very close on a few occasions. Dropped back to class five recently and picked up a race over this distance with 132Lbs on his back. Back up to class four and ran a fairly solid on paced race last start over this distance and was not far away on the post. Would not have to do too much more to break through here. Still nicely weighted and comes up with a nice barrier draw in gate three .Secret Agent has been bouncing up and down in class a bit lately but does look a bit of a chance here today after winning at this class recently. This looks about as far as he will get so will need a soft run but if so will certainly be in with a very good chance here.

Race 4: — Time: 6.30am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 4 – AWT

Top Pick: No 9 Horse Supremo

Value Selection: No 2 Confucius Elite

Exotic Inclusions: No 4 Easy Success and No 5 Star Of Wai Bo

Race Overview

Horse Supremo they have tried him on all tracks but looks best at home on the AWT and produced a nice run last start on the dirt after leading most of the way. Will most likely attempt the same tactics today and if not pressured too much may very well be the one to run down over the concluding stages. Confucius Elite Has been a very consistent runner over this season and there is no reason to doubt he will put in once again today. Weighted at his best but he does have his race day hoop in Max Guyon in the saddle and certainly has appeal in a race of this type.

Race 5: — Time: 7.00am GMT—Distance: 1600m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 3 Supreme Profit

Value Selection: No 11 Elite Pride

Exotic Inclusions: No 5 Born To Win and No 4 Mac Row

Race Overview

Supreme Profit has been closing off extremely well recently and ran very well last start only missing by a very short margin. Only has to repeat that effort to give this a big shake. Drawn well and should get a nice trail in the running and gets Zac Purton in the saddle for the first time today as well. Elite Pride put in a nice effort two starts back over the 1400m then stepped up to the Mile last start and did not perform as expected but it does appear that he had excused on that occasion after losing a plate early in the running. Gets another chance today with a similar weight and they have thrown Joao Moreira in the saddle as well. Will be a bit of value if he stays at each way odds.

Race 6: — Time: 7.35am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 3 – AWT

Top Pick: No 4 Startling Power

Value Selection: No 3 Dehere’s The Love

Exotic Inclusions: No 9 Hidden Value and No 12 Hit The Bid / No 7 Able Warrior

Race Overview

Startling Power all bar one run this season has been very consistent and after going up to this class two runs back he recorded a very nice win last start over this distance all be it with a very light weight. Gets a decent weight rise today but he does retain Joao Moreira as his pilot and this is not an overly strong Class three. The only query is the wide draw in gate 10. Dehere’s The Love was in sparkling form before going up to class three and was going well early on as well but the extra weight seems to have got him on an even playing field at the moment. however he does come up with a nice draw today in gate 4 which will certainly suite and may very well give this a very good shake.

Race 7: — Time: 8.05am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 5 Eroico

Value Selection: No 2 Supreme Falcon

Exotic Inclusions: No 3 Dining World and No 9 Ovett / No 7 Golden Deer

Race Overview

Eroico does look a bit above average but will have to work hard this time in from a wide gate and has a couple of more Lb’s to work with today as well but having said that he is a very improving type and would not have to improve too much to get away with this as well before he goes right up in the weights. Supreme Falcon does look weighted at his best now after recording some nice wins at this class. Most recently at Happy Valley but he also put two together early in the season over this distance at Sha Tin. Should enjoy a good run in transit and has to go in as a bit of value here.

Race 8: — Time: 8.35am GMT—Distance: 1800m—Class HKG3

The Centenary Vase

Top Pick: No 2 Designs On Rome

Value Selection: No 3 California Memory

Exotic Inclusions: No 6 Willie Cazals and No 8 Khaya and if hunting for a trifecta or 1st 4 then you can throw in No 11 Packing Llaregyb

Race Overview

Awesome race here and the weights are certainly spread out a fair bit so if Designs On Rome can go close then he is certainly a very good runner as he giving away a fair bit in weight today. With the scratching of Military Attack it does appear that Designs On Rome may very well have this race at his mercy. Won his last start at Group One over the 2000m and had been working up to that. Should still be in top fitness as his track work indicates and the drop back in distance should not be a problem. California Memory Going to throw a bit of value into the exotics here with this one. Always closes on most occasions as a result of being ridden back and even though he has not won for a while there is one key factor here and that is his weight. He raced on the pace two starts back and was only beaten by 3/4 of a length in a G2 over the 2000m then was beaten by 4 lengths in a G1 over the same distance last start in a race which developed into a sprint home and did not really suit. That race was at set weights and won be Designs On Rome goes up 5 lbs today where as California Memory go’s down 5 Lbs so there is a 10 Lb difference today and if one of the lighter weighted runners of which there are a few decide to take it up then he just may get the pace to suit and is certainly worth a look at current odds.

Race 9: — Time: 9.10pm GMT—Distance: 1600m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 1 Ishvara

Value Selection: No 5 Jun Huo

Exotic Inclusions: No 3 Red Dancer and No 2 Winning Instinct / No 6 Kerkeni

Race Overview

Ishvara has really shown that he is a very good type since arriving in Hong Kong and has been right on the job this season. Very hard to leave out here even though he has top weight today. If he wins today he will certainly progress to Group racing and that certainly looks a strong possibility. Drawn well in gate 3 and has Zac Purton in the saddle and this does look like one of Zac’s best chances today. Jun Huo only the three runs in Hong Kong and the first two were good and won over this distance two starts back. Put in a sub standard performance last start over the 1800m and the only explanation they could come up with was that he just did not appreciate the jump up in distance. Has trailed well since and is expected to perform much better today. In the absence of Brett Prebble he gets Douglas Whyte in the saddle so he loses nothing here. May pay to follow at decent odds here.

Race 10: — Time: 9.45pm GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 2

Top Pick: No: 13 Pikachu

Value Selection: No 1 Wonderful Moments

Exotic Inclusions: No 10 Precision King and No 2 What You Dream

                                                         Race Overview

Pikachu just the one start at this class and looks to have measured up after running a very nice third with 120Lbs on his back from a wide gate over this distance. Actually drops 4 Lbs today and comes up with a nice draw in gate five. Neil Callan is off him but looses nothing in Maxi Guyon in the saddle today. Wonderful Moments Is a very nice type and has been mixing it with better class runner’s lately in stronger company and comes up with a reasonable gate today and should be in the firing line once again. Up in the weights but if he carries it he will go very close here.

Sha Tin Racing Sunday 1st February Tips

HONG KONG RACING SUNDAY 1 February

SHA TIN

Hong Kong Wrap Up

As expected it was a great day’s racing at Sha Tin last Sunday and we hit all four on top selections in the last four races which provided some great entertainment even though the value was not always there. Peniaphobia got home in the 1000m sprint which was a fantastic effort and then Able Friend did it in style over the Sha Tin Mile in the Cup Race. He certainly looks a very impressive type and Joao Moreira never even moved on him. In a race which was void of pace he came from 2nd last and absolutely swamped them careering away to win with ease and in actual fact Joao just patted him on the neck over the last 100m and he won in a canter against a field of class milers. The real question is where does he go next? May be the Doncaster in Sydney or is it off to Dubai. The owners are a bit up in the air at the moment and he may very well stay in Hong Kong but he looks far too good to not have a go on the World Stage. Back at Sha Tin today and all racing is on the turf and once again it looks to be a very entertaining day especially over the last four races where there are some very nice up and coming race horses who will certainly rev up this day at Sha Tin which always provides great racing and great entertainment. Enjoy the form guide and get amongst the winners.

Track and Conditions: Turf – C Course. Track will be rated Good.

Expected Weather: Mainly cloudy with a top temperature of 17 degrees. Wind will be from the east to northeast gusting up to 30 to 40 Km/h so it will create a head wind down the straight which will favour on paced runners however closers will get their chance as well if making ground down the back straight.

Best Bet: Race 8 No 1 Tonyboy

Best Value: Race 9 No 3 Travel First

Exotic Races: Race No’s 7-8-9-10

Quaddie:-

Race 7: 6-1-4 Race 8: 1-4   Race 9: 13-3-5-6 Race 10: 5-6-11-10-13

Race 1: — Time: 5.00am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 5

Top Pick: No 1 Best Jade Triumph

Value Selection: No 11 Jun Hao

Exotic Inclusions: No 9 Optimization Star and No 4 Costa Del Son / No 5 Intellectual Glide

Race Overview

Best Jade Triumph heads back to class five today after putting together a few runs at class four and performed ok on those occasions but does look much better suited today. The last time he raced at this class he had two starts and recorded a win and a 2nd with a similar weight to what he has today and they were both over this distance at Sha Tin. Should be in the finish here at some point with Brett Prebble in the saddle. Jun Hao Has been going along well this season all be it at class five. His last two races in particular have been very good and finished a close up 2nd on both occasions. Carries the same weight as last start today and only has to maintain recent form to be a good chance once again with Douglas Whyte back in the saddle.

Race 2: — Time: 5.30am GMT—Distance: 1000m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 8 Massive Move

Selection: No 2 Art Of Success

Exotic Inclusions: No 1 Diamond Master and No 4 Elite Spirit

Race Overview

Difficult race to assess here as better chance runners have not drawn well and the better gates have gone to runners with not so good form however you may get each way odds about Massive Move who has drawn not too bad in gate 9. He has only had the one run in Hong Kong and that was over this distance when he ran a good race from a similar gate. Actually drops one Lb on that effort and his track work has been good and I really do expect he will go well today.  Art Of Success drops back to this class today for the first time and has to be a consideration as he hung in there at class three last start with Joao Moreira in the saddle and interesting enough he has stuck with him with the class drop today. Has to be a good pointer. Drawn a bit wide but he does possess good gate speed and with a bit of luck can be well positioned in the running.

Race 3: — Time: 6.00am GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 3 Sugar City

Value Selection: No 6 Amazing Always

Exotic Inclusions: No 13 Motif and No 5 Unbeatable Guts / No 2 Wah May Baby

Race Overview

Sugar City does look to be knocking on the door for a win as all his runs this season have been at this class and never far away. Drawn well in gate 6 and should get a nice trail in the running. It appears they are certainly trying to get him a win as they have Joao Moreira in the saddle today and he does look well placed in this field just the same. Amazing Always is a consistent type at this class and is never far away. Recent form has been good and recorded a nice win last start from a very wide gate. Comes up with the rails today draw which will most likely mean a change in tactics and will most likely be ridden closer to the pace today. May need a bit of luck on the bend but he does have Brett Prebble who is the master of the weave on his back today for the first time.

Race 4: — Time: 6.30am GMT—Distance: 1800m—Class 5

Top Pick: No 1 Namjong Turbo

Value Selection: No Triumphant Dragon

Exotic Inclusions: No 6 Dragon and No 3 Cool Pal / No 7 Yeung Sing

Race Overview

Very difficult race to assess and not one you want to get too involved in. Gone for a bit of value here. Namjong Turbo either class four or class five he is never far away and has reached top weight for this class but never the less his recent form has been solid and only has to maintain that to give this a shake. Likes this distance and retains his last start hoop so he will get a small claim as well. Triumphant Dragon has been in very solid form this season all be it at class five as he has won two and placed in another two from his four starts. Goes over this distance for the first time today but has been closing off at all his starts well recently which indicates he should get the extra distance today. Always has the best hoops in the saddle and no different today with Brett Prebble as his pilot. Dragon, Cool Pal and Yeung Sing should all get their chances if good enough.

Race 5: — Time: 7.00am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 3 Sensation

Value Selection: No 2 Multimax

Exotic Inclusions: No 1 Telecom Boss and No 5 Bear Rapper / No 4 Dashing Fortune

Race Overview

Sensation comes up with a nice draw today in gate two and retains Zac Purton in the saddle and does appeal as a bit of a chance here. Went up in distance to the 1400m last start which and he didn’t really work into it as expected all be it running a decent race. Looks better suited to this distance today and I really do expect he can get into the finish here. Multimax just the two runs in Hong Kong and went to the line well to win over this distance last start at this class. Looks a bit of a chance once again today even though he has gone up in the weights. Retains his last start hoop so he will get a nice claim which still puts him in well today. Should go well judging on his last start performance.

Race 6: — Time: 7.35am GMT—Distance: 1000m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 3 Jetwings

Value Selection: No 2 Lovely Delovely

Exotic Inclusions: No 11 Good Luck Boy and No 9 Happy Meteor / No 14 Touch Go

Race Overview

Interesting race with a few runners looking a bit out of their comfort zone but looking at current form then we have to look at Jetwings just the one run in Hong Kong and he blew them away at that start which was over this distance. Did not draw well on that occasion and nothing has changed today with an outside draw which will make it a bit tricky so will need luck but he does look like a very nice type and a certain chance today as he does still look well weighted. Lovely Delovely has to go in with a strong chance once again today as well. Drawn ok in gate nine which is fairly close in and should get him into a good position in the running down this sprint shoot. Scratched last start as was found to be lame in the left fore but has undergone a full vet examination since and track work has been fine. Expect he will go very well today.

Race 7: — Time: 8.05am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 1

Top Pick: No 6 Key Witness

Value Selection: No 1 Domineer

Exotic Inclusions: No 4 Super Jockey and No 3 Exciting Dream

Race Overview

Key Witness does look like a very nice type and continues to improve. Won at class 2 last start with 131 Lbs and gets 11 Lbs off his back today with the class rise. Extremely consistent race horse and should go very close here today. Comes up with a very nice draw in gate two and retains Douglas Whyte in the saddle. Domineer is mostly a Happy Valley and AWT runner but has also performed well on this surface previously. Too consistent to leave out of the equation here as his form this season has been very strong and came up with a good win at this class last start. Goes up in the weights as a result of that but when you look at this field he still looks well in it.

Race 8: — Time: 8.35am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 1 Tonyboy

Value Selection: No 4 Da Vinci

Exotic Inclusions: No 8 Sight Seeing and No 12 Bossiee / No 5 Cleaver Beaver

Race Overview

Fair few chances here but I am going to go with Tonyboy his first up run this season was nothing short of sensational for this class of runner at Sha Tin and I was surprised to see that they elected to run him at Happy Valley last start as he came up with a wide gate on that occasion and simply could not make up the ground around the tight circuit. Looks much better suited at Sha Tin and will be closing hard. Da Vinci only the two starts in Hong Kong and both have been very good indicating that he will go well at this class. Comes up with another nice draw today in gate four and still looks in nice at the weights. Certain chance here retaining his regular hoop.

Race 9: — Time: 9.10pm GMT—Distance: 1400m—Class 3

Top Pick: No 13 Sky Hero

Value Selection: No 3 Travel First

Exotic Inclusions: No 5 Too Cheeky and No 6 Brilliant Dream

Race Overview

Sky Hero does look a nice type, is up in class here all be it he is jumping from restricted class 4 mostly and has the ability to get into the finish here and he does look very well suited at this distance. Gets a small weight reduction of 4 Lbs but most important he retains his regular hoop in Douglas Whyte. Should get a very nice run in transit and certainly has appeal today. Travel First just the two starts in Hong Kong and both have been at Sha Tin. Comes up with a nice draw today in gate 2 and should get a nice trial in the running and be suited by the pace today after running an nice on paced race over the 1600m last start. Former UK runner how should not take too long before breaking through in Hong Kong.

Race 10: — Time: 9.45pm GMT—Distance: 1600m—Class 2

Top Pick: No 5 Contentment

Value Selection: No 6 Club Life

Exotic Inclusions: No 11 Redkirk Warrior and No 10 Celestial Smile / NO 13 Renaissance Art

                                                         Race Overview

Contentment just cannot come up with a good draw and is out in the sticks once again today in gate 12 but he has won all three starts from wide gates since arriving in Hong Hong and his last being at class three when he bounced and lead all the way over the 1400m. That was an extremely good effort and even though he is up in class today he has to be a very strong consideration on that effort. Gets into this with a nice weight and retains his regular hoop. Club Life has really improved this season and recorded a very nice win last start over this distance from a wide gate and in fact all his last three starts have been from wide gates over this distance and has performed well on all occasions. Comes up with a very nice draw today in gate 3 and still looks ok at the weights despite the class rise as this field is not an overly strong class two. Should be closer to the pace today and has to go in as another good chance here at value odds.

Sha Tin 25th January Tips

HONG KONG RACING SUNDAY 25 JANUARY G1 MEET

SHA TIN

Hong Kong Wrap Up

Looks like a great card today with two Group One races and some very special runners engaged. Race 7 and Race 8 are both Group One races and I am sure you will get a thrill out of these two races. Peniaphobia just continues to improve and looks a very exciting type but may not have it all his own way today as he has drawn a touch wide over this course and Amber Sky should lead them out and if not pressured too much will make a race of it at nice odds. In the other G1 we have Able Friend which will most likely be unbackable as his form in winning last start is extremely hard to go past. However he may not get the same fast pace as last start which should make things a bit closer. Enjoy the day and the very special racing at Sha Tin in Hong Kong and get amongst the winners and the exotics.

Track and Conditions: Turf B+2 Course with the exception of Races 1-3-6 which will be on the All Weather Dirt Track. Track will be rated well on both surfaces.

Expected Weather: Cloudy with one or two rain patches and a top temperature of 18 degrees. Wind will be from the east gusting up to 40 Km/h at times which will cause a cross wind from east to west but also pushing up the straight causing a headwind. This will assist on paced runners as the wind should be fresh providing a tail wind down the back straight.

Race 1: — Time: 8.00am GMT—Distance: 1650m—Class 5 – AWT

Top Pick: No 1 Glorious Avenue

Value Selection: No 5 Croatia

Exotic Inclusions: No 4 Follow The Wind and No 2 Mister Marc

Race Overview

Glorious Avenue Dropped back to this class for the first time last start and almost got away with it. Meets Croatia 5 Lbs better at the weights this time and there does not look much between them. I expect they will attempt to get cover from their wide gates and bring it home over the concluding stages. Glorious Avenue retains Zac Purton in the saddle who will be looking for a big day today. Croatia dropped back to this class late last season and has shown improvement this season. Prefers this surface and recorded a nice win last start over this distance and surface and still looks weighted ok at his point. Not drawn great in gate 9 but this is a class five and will get his chance once again today.

Race 2: — Time: 8.30am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 5 Golden Scalpel

Value Selection: No 6 Towering Storm

Exotic Inclusions: No 11 Money Café-No 7 Oxford Charlie / No 1 Percy Jackson

Race Overview

Golden Scalpel has been going very well for Joao Moreira lately and has put together two very nice runs which resulted in him winning over the 1800m last start at Sha Tin. Closed off very well on that occasion indicating that he may be very well suited over this distance today and he should be well positioned in the running to suite. Towering Storm will have no problem with this distance and has not been too far away lately but will need to find cover from gate 13 and if so can get himself into the finish once again. Retains regular hoop in Neil Callan in the saddle and should be at each way odds here. Percy Jackson Is dropping back in class today and that has to help you would think in a fairly ordinary class four. Carries top weight but has run well over this distance at class three so he does look a bit of a chance here. Drawn well and should get a nice trail in the running and he does have a senior hoop in Douglas Whyte in the saddle today which has to be a bonus. Going to throw him in as my BOLTER today.

Race 3: — Time: 9.00am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 4 Real Fit

Value Selection: No 1 Hello Kimberley

Exotic Inclusions: No 11 Kingston Jumbo and No 8 Bee There Ahead

Race Overview

Real Fit appeared to have excuses two starts back and came out and ran a very nice 2nd last start on this surface. Comes up with a nice draw today in gate four. Only up 2 Lbs and retains Douglas Whyte in the saddle. Looks a real chance on his last start performance. Hello Kimberley does seems to like this surface and has been very consistent on the dirt. Been up to class three for a bit of a look but certainly looks much better suited today at class four even with top weight. Zac Purton in the saddle and looks a good chance here.

Race 4: — Time: 9.30am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 12 Unique Happiest

Value Selection: No 1 Sunny Pearl

Exotic Inclusions: No 4 Solar Kingdom and No 7 Tones

Race Overview

Unique Happiest has gone very close at his last two starts over this distance and has came up with the rails draw today which should see him well positioned in the running as there will be plenty of pace on here and he should slot into a nice rails position. Gets a senior hoop in Brett Prebble in the saddle today which you would expect will certainly help. Sunny Pearl has been bouncing up and down at class four and class three recently and does look much better suited today at this class. Comes up with a nice draw in gate five and should get a nice trail in the running and he does retain Mattie Chadwick in the saddle as well. Certainly looks a nice chance today and the distance does suite. Expected to be at nice each way odds.

Race 5: — Time: 10.00am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 7 Shining Champion

Value Selection: No 3 Gentilis

Exotic Inclusions: No 10 Lucky Day and No 2 Our Folks / 9 Why Why / No 14 Super Talent

Race Overview

Shining Champion has been very consistent this season. Just got up last start over this distance at this class and still looks well weighted today. Comes up with a very nice draw in gate five and retains his last start winning  hoop as well  and appeals as another very good chance here. Gentilis has been very consistent since arriving in Hong Kong with the exception of a couple of runs. One being last start when he did not settle prior to jumping and had a fair few issues in the running and featured strongly in the steward’s report. Can certainly get back on track here and has Zac Purton back in the saddle today for the first time this season. Can certainly turn things around today.

Race 6: — Time: 10.30am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 1 Autumn Gold

Value Selection: No 14 Rock The Tree

Exotic Inclusions: No 8 Supreme Fresh and No 10 Scimitar

Race Overview

Do not like this race at all, far too much inconsistent form, maybe Autumn Gold with the class drop today as he has been doing all his racing at Class two this season and although well beaten on most occasions the last time he raced at this class and distance he did win with the same weight he carries today and it was also on this surface. Has not got great early speed but just the same should get into a nice position in the running. Looking at Jockey moves we can see that Gerard Mosse has opted for Supreme Fresh today which also appeals as a good chance as he has been consistent this season and never far away over these type of distances. Should get a nice run in transit and still looks nicely weighted. Rock The Tree has been going along well this season at class four and deserves another crack at this class and will trot around with just 111 Lbs on his back after the claim. Appeals as a bit of value.

Race 7: — Time: 11.00am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 1 Peniaphobia

Value Selection: No 2 Amber Sky

Exotic Inclusions: No 5 Bundle Of Joy and No 7 Smart Volitility

Race Overview

Peniaphobia has been in sensational form this season and can go very close to chalking up another quality race. Just missed in a G1 sprint last start and has to be the one to beat here today at set weights. Only queary is that he has drawn the widest gate but should be able to negate that in a eight horse field and is certainly expected to be in the finish here. Amber Sky does look much better suited over this distance as he has speed to burn early and his gate speed is very good. Should lead here and they will need to chase him down over the concluding stages as he has came up with a very nice draw. Certainly appeals at each way odds.

Race 8: — Time: 11.35am GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 1 Able Friend

Value Selection: No 4 Ambitious Dragon

Exotic Inclusions: No 2 Gold-Fun and No 3 Blazing Speed

Race Overview

Able Friend has been on fire over this distance this season and made very easy work of it last start at G1. Has to be the one to beat once again at set weights after toying with them under similar circumstances last start. Have to throw in Ambitious Dragon here with a bit of a chance and he will be at nice each way odds as well. Now an eight year old who has came back after some setbacks but just loves this distance and certainly has to go in as the value and an exotic inclusion in a race which does look a bit void of early pace.

Race 9: — Time: 12.10pm GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 6 Eioico

Value Selection: No 5 Longwah Amber

Exotic Inclusions: No 12 World City and No 2 Ovett

Race Overview

Eroico went very close last start at this class over this distance and actually drops 1 Lb today and has drawn the rails as well. Retains Joao Moreira in the saddle and does appeal as a good hope once again today. Longwah Amber got right back on track last start with a good start to finish win over this distance and still looks well weighted today. He drew the rails last start and bounced very well but will have to content with gate 10 today but if Brett Prebble can get him into a good position he can certainly run well here.

Race 10: — Time: 12.45pm GMT—Distance: 1200m—Class 4

Top Pick: No 9 Brilliant Shine

Value Selection: No 11 High And Mighty

Exotic Inclusions: No 14 Pikachu and No 12 Universal Union

Race Overview

Brilliant Shine is really jumping out of his skin this season after winning his last two races at this class. Has certainly improved out of sight and does deserve a go at this class today. Gets a 5 Lb drop in the weights but thought he would get a touch more. However has came up with a very nice draw and should get a very nice trail in the running . High And Mighty Does look the danger here and has only had the three starts in Hong Kong but already looks a very nice type suited to these conditions. Has Brett Prebble in the saddle once again today and certainly has appeal if he stays at current each way odds. Up in class but gets a 14 Lbs drop in weight and certainly appeals as the weight runner here from gate 6. Being the last race on the card I feel we have to look at a bit of value as two of the Quaddie races do look to lack value so let’s have a look. There is a bit to like about the lower weighted runners in this race. Universal Union goes up to this class for the first time today but his Class three form has been excellent and drops 14 Lbs with the class rise. Drawn wide which is a bit of a concern but has the weight off his back to make a go of it here. Pikachu  also goes up to class two today after winning at class three last start all be it by a very small margin. Gets 12 Lbs of his back today but has drawn wide. Have the feeling there will be a fair bit of pace in this race which may help and he does come across as a nice type over this distance.
