Sorry for taking a few days off, nothing really appealed, and we aren’t the sort of blog to put up selections for the sake of it.
Same as Monday, there is only one selection today. This horse has some real potential to go places, and despite a poor show at the Breeders Cup, we expect her to bounce back today with a bang.
Sky Lantern – 16:05 Newmarket – NAP – 3-1 Stanjames
Last September Sky Lantern won the Group 1 fillies Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh, then headed over to Santa Anita for the Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (grade 1) and was 3 lengths into 8th after being sent off the 5/2 favourite. If the stuffing hasn’t been knocked out of the horse because of that race, she oozes the class needed to win this race today. This is essentially a drop down in grade, and with solid group 1 form she is the one to beat. The second favourite Nargys has a Yarmouth maiden win to her name, and a group 2 2nd. It’s possible she can progress further as a 3 year old, so she rates a danger.
The biggest danger could be Winning Express, she has a group 1 2nd to her name when she finished 2nd to Rosdhu Queen in the Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket, a nose back in 3rd was Baileys Jubilee (also in this race).
If Sky Lantern has improved from 2 to 3, and has got over the Breeders Cup, she has a super chance of winning. If not on her A game, Winning Express & Nargys are ready to pounce.
